MRA e-invoicing check
Mauritius is making e-invoicing compulsory in phases, sorted by annual turnover. Pick your band below to see where you stand and how much time you have.
The rollout so far
| Phase | Who | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Phase 1 | Turnover above Rs 100M | Live since 15 May 2024 |
| Phase 2 | Rs 80M–100M | Announced in Budget 2025-26, comply during FY 2025-26 |
| Phase 3 | Rs 50M–80M | Announced, date to be fixed |
What compliance actually involves
- A registered EBS. Your invoicing software (or till) must be an Electronic Billing System registered with the MRA.
- Real-time transmission. Each invoice is sent as JSON to the MRA Invoice Fiscalisation Platform at the moment it is issued.
- IRN and QR code on everything. The platform returns an Invoice Registration Number and a QR code, and both must be printed on every invoice, receipt, credit note and debit note you issue.
The MRA keeps a public list of approved EBS providers, so you can check whether the software you are considering is actually registered before you commit to it.
Fiscalisation is built into Biro
Biro handles MRA fiscalisation as an add-on: real-time submission, IRN and QR code on every document, all automatic. When the mandate reaches your band, you switch it on and carry on working, without a migration.
