Mauritius salary calculator
Type your monthly gross salary to see what lands in your bank account after PAYE, CSG and NSF, and what the same salary costs your employer. Your figures stay on this page; they aren't sent anywhere.
What this assumes. A standard private-sector employee with nothing unusual:
- Your gross is treated as basic wage: no allowances, travel allowance or benefits in kind.
- Annual figures are 12 flat months, with no 13th-month bonus.
- No reliefs or deductions beyond the Rs 500,000 exempt threshold (dependents, premiums and EDF declarations change the PAYE figure).
- Monthly PAYE follows the MRA withholding basis: the annual threshold is spread over 13 pay periods, giving a monthly exemption of Rs 38,462.
- NSF is computed on basic wage between the July 2025 floor (Rs 4,400) and ceiling (Rs 28,570).
- The Fair Share Contribution is left out, since it only applies above Rs 923,077 a month.
How PAYE brackets work
PAYE runs on marginal brackets: for the year to 30 June 2026, the first Rs 500,000 of chargeable income is tax-free, the next Rs 500,000 is taxed at 10%, and everything above Rs 1 million at 20%. Crossing into a higher bracket never costs you money; only the slice above the line is taxed at the higher rate. Your employer withholds the tax every month, spreading the exempt threshold over 13 pay periods (that is where the Rs 38,462 monthly exemption comes from), and pays it to the MRA on your behalf.
What are CSG and NSF?
CSG (Contribution Sociale Généralisée) replaced the old NPF pension contributions in September 2020 and funds retirement benefits. You and your employer both pay it on your basic wage, and the rates double once you earn more than Rs 50,000 a month. NSF, the National Savings Fund, is a smaller and older scheme: 1% from you and 2.5% from your employer, on basic wage between a monthly floor and ceiling. Your employer also pays a 1.5% HRDC training levy that never appears on your payslip. It funds training grants the business can claim back.
Biro handles the business side
Biro handles invoicing and point-of-sale for Mauritian shops, not payroll. Every sale and purchase goes through it, so you can see what the business earns and spends before you promise anyone a salary. Free for a month.
See what Biro does →Estimates for a standard private-sector employee on FY 2025-26 rates (checked August 2026). Expatriates, people with more than one employer, benefits in kind, EDF reliefs and the Fair Share Contribution on very high incomes all change the numbers. This isn't tax advice; for your actual payslip, ask your payroll officer or the MRA.
