Freelance invoice template for Mauritius

Freelancers get paid late more than anyone, and often the invoice is part of the problem. The BRN is missing, the description is vague, or there are no payment details. A complete invoice shows the client they're dealing with a business and gives them less reason to sit on the payment.

This template bills by the day with a fixed project component. Swap the line items freely for hourly, per-deliverable or retainer work; the structure stays the same.

Tips for freelance & consulting invoices

  • Put payment terms on every invoice ("Payment within 14 days"). With no agreed terms, you have nothing to chase against.
  • If you are not sure what to charge, work it out properly with the hourly rate calculator first.
  • Under Rs 3M turnover you don't charge VAT. Untick "VAT-registered" and the template adjusts itself.

Useful alongside this: the VAT calculator, the VAT categories guide and the invoice checker.
